Very small, very light but looks very fragile. Only time will tell but I'm glad it has a 5 year guarantee. First impressions are that it sucks very well as it removed dirt from a previously Dyson DC01 cleaned carpet. Nothing has broken yet but it does feel fragile. Carpets are easy and it feels ok but to clean the inside of the car needs a lot of clicks and button presses and turning bits around which makes you wonder how long its all going to last. The standard attachment for the "wand" is not very good so I guess we're going to have to buy another attachment at extra cost. These extra attachments were standard on the DC01. Having said all that it is light - which is why we bought it - and it's easy to carry up stairs even though the cable is VERY short.

I'm really pleased with this. After my old upright Hoover died, I strayed and bought a cheapish cylinder cleaner but was never satisfied with the results and I missed those lovely 'vacuum lines' that uprights leave on carpets and rugs. I've never had a Dyson before but decided to go for it after reading the reviews here, and I'm so glad I did! It picks up beautifully on laminate floors and carpets alike and brings my rug up a treat. I was actually planning to replace my rug because it looked so downtrodden but the Dyson has brought it back to life. I was tempted to give full marks but I've taken a star away because the extension tube is a bit inflexible and difficult to get into tricky corners. This isn't a big problem, though. There may not be such a thing as the 'perfect' vacuum cleaner - but this is pretty close! If you're dithering like I was - go for it!

Extremely delighted with my purchase of the above vacuum cleaner. It is so lightweight and compact to use and manoeuvres round corners very successfully.
The only complaint I have about this vacuum is the short cable which does not allow me to hoover all the way upstairs. As I have my old DC04 upstairs I manage to hoover the top 5 or 6 stairs with this and the remainder 7 stairs I hoover with my DC24.
No more dirty hands when emptying the drum.

Never owned a Dyson before so really pleased with the basic features - bagless, easy to empty, attachments though took a while to get used to it.
The main reason I chose this was because it was described as Ultra lightweight but don't think it deserves that description.

Very compact design, robust plastic construction, and very effective. I thought something was missing when I got the box as it was so small, but it all went together very easily with the pictorial instructions supplied. It was quite frightening to see how much came up from the carpets when first used after a few months of using our increasingly ailing old vacuum cleaner. One room filled the canister! It seems very easy to use, especially the mechanism for discarding the dust. It's a doddle to take upstairs too. Two slight criticisms: it is all too easy to pick it up by the wrong handle - one has to use the handle on the top of the canister otherwise you end up extending the telescopic handle instead! Also, the flexible hose is a bit short. But apart from this, it is an excellent machine.
