Handy and efficient little rice cooker September 4, 2010 The "Choirmaster" (UK) This is a handly and efficient little rice cooker. Easy to keep clean. It works very well once you get used to the corect amount of water needed.
It is best (but not necessary)to soak the rice in cold water for at least half and hour before cooking. Soak the rice first, rinse until water is clear and then cook. Use about 1 cup of rice to 1.5 cup of water if your like your rice soft and moist. But if you soak your rice first, you use less water and need less cooking time, 8 mins. Max cooking time 10 mins for one cup of rice. BROWN rice needs more water and more time in the microwave. Rice always comes out perfect. Have used one of these for over 12 years.
Essential for every kitchen September 3, 2010 Rosie Easy to use, hard to get wrong. Once you have bought one of these, you'll never have to scrub a burnt rice pot again! It looks gimmicky but it does exactly what it's supposed to and cheaply too!
brilliant rice cooker August 30, 2010 Mrs. W. K. Atkins i bought this rice cooker as someone melted the lid on my old one, i was a little wary about trying a different one but i took the plunge and bought this and for the price this is well worth the money i paid for it, i would recommend this to anyone it cooks the rice nicely not stodgey as some times happened with my old one and the measuring cup and spoon is very useful. i now dont have to guess the amounts of rice/water that i have to put in. i have a 750 microwave and this just about fits in all in all i would recommend this item.
Brilliant find! August 20, 2010 R. Jefferson (UK) I bought this as a last ditch attempt at getting decent rice, fed up with pots boiling over and never getting it quite right. For such a cheap little item, it's amazing. As other posters said, you do need to play around with the timings a bit for different types of rice, but once you've cracked it, you'll never look back. E.g. Basmati for 2 takes 13 mins in a Cat E micro, with 1 cup rice to 2.5 cups water. Best to add most of the water first, stir it half way through and add the final half cup for the second half of cooking.
It's a good space saver too if you've got a crowded cooker top and cleans perfectly in the dishwasher. Highly recommended.
