4 out of 5 stars Excellent but expensive   August 27, 2010
Rock Ape (St James SE, Suffolk)

HDMI is a digital interface, therefore the data either arrives intact or not. For short leads (less than 3m) in a home environment (low levels of electrical interference), there is no requirement for high quality (expensive) cabling. In practice the quality of the connector contacts is the critical issue and this lead has perfectly acceptable connectors - they must be gold plated to avoid corrosion and future poor contact resistance.

If the data is corrupted due to a poor cable or connector, you'll know about it on your screen. Small amounts of corruption (eg caused by interference) will still result in obvious picture defects. If these are evident, double check that all connectors are fully inserted and there is no damage to the cable. Always keep the leads as short as possible to reduce clutter and minimise pick-up of interference.

The GOOD: The lead being reviewed here suffered from no quality problems and gave perfect results.

The BAD: It's very expensive.

Moral of the HDMI story: for the normal connections around your TV and player/recorder system(s), BUY THE CHEAPEST LEAD WITH GOLD PLATED CONTACTS that you can find.

Just use the cable to connect an Acer Revo to a HDMI ready panasonic TV and works as expected, for an excellent price.

You may be forgiven in thinking a 'cable is a cable' so what does it matter. Well, I'm a great believer in 'you get what you pay for' and boy you do get what you've paid for with your hard earned cash. These cables are so well constructed you could use them as tow ropes! Seriously, they are very good. I'm no techo geek but these cables deliver the goods to my TV. I highly recommend them for there quality. Also, they were delivered to me in no time, which obviously is a big bonus.

Well considering i only payed £1.00 for it last year from amazon when they had a sale on, i have absolutely no complaints, fantastic signals speed, reaction speeds are pretty much instant, its the perfect legnth, people choose longer cables have longer times between pressing a button and it appearing, so excellent in every way
